NCBC prepares chiefly for Torpids and Summer Eights, bumps races that take part in Hilary Term and Trinity Term respectively, consistently maintaining high rankings in both. Summer Eights is the biggest sporting event at Oxford University, attracting over 1000 competitors. Torpids provides a chance for college rowers to prove their worth, as University rowers and coxes are unable to compete.
NCBC also fields boats for various smaller Oxford regattas, and external regattas. NCBC has a long and distinguished history of participation in Henley Royal Regatta and even the Olympics in 1912, the only Oxbridge college boat club to have done so.
